Is my site backed
up and how often?
Yes, full backups are done
daily on all servers. These are for emergency or drastic situations.
You will still need to backup your sites file and data on
your own, but rest assured your data is with us if an emergency
arises. (You can now backup your site as well as your databases
and email settings easily via your control panel, and we strongly
encourage you to do so regularly.)
How fast are your
connections?
We employ OC-3 & Multiple
DS-3 fiber optic connectivity.
What are your server
specifications?
Our servers are genuine Pentium
III and IV machines with ECC SDRAM, running Red Hat Linux,
Apache Web Server, and many custom programs.
Do you have a secure
certificate that I can use?
Yes, or you can use your own
Thawte 128bit certificate.
Do you offer any databases?
Yes, we have MySQL installed
with an online interface for managing your database.
What is virtual Web
hosting?
We specialize in virtual Web
hosting, which means that you can find a home for your Web
site on our high performance Web servers and establish your
presence on the Internet with your own unique domain name.
This is a very intelligent and cost effective alternative
to hosting your own web site internally. Our shared hosting
environment gives you the benefits of high performance servers,
high bandwidth connectivity that can seamlessly grow with
your needs, pre-installed software, guaranteed reliability
and around-the-clock, all at a small fraction of the cost
of doing it yourself.
Do you actively monitor
and manage your network 24/7?
Yes, our network is monitored
on site and remotely. If something happens to your site or
our servers our technicians will be checking on it immediately.
Do I have 24/7 access
to my account(s)?
Yes you do. All of our customers
have full access to their account every day, all day.
Do you offer tech
support every day?
Yes, we currently offer tech
support between 9AM to 9PM Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8),
by ICQ: 6961945. We will offer telephone support for the same
time period soon. We also offer 24/7 e-mail support, at support(at)aqualityhost.com
or forwardpro(at)hotmail.com .
How do I redirect
one domain to another?
If you want more than one
domain name to point to your account, just send us the information,
and we will park the extra domains at your main account (Number
depends on the account package.) Or if you already have the
domain hosted elsewhere you can add this tag to the homepage
you want redirected.
| Script for redirect: |
<meta http-equiv="refresh"
content="0;url=http://WWW.DOMAIN_NAME.COM/INDEX.HTM(L)"
|
Do you host adult
sites?
No, we do not allow adult
content.
Can I get unlimited
sub-domains (name.domain.com)?
Yes, we now offer unlimited
subdomains with all our accounts.
===== How
do I get my email?
If you're familiar with your
email client's setup, use the following information to retrieve
email from your POP account:
Incoming mail (POP3) server:
mail.yourdomain.com Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.yourdomain.com
Need more information on setting
up a particular email client? Please visit our Online
Manual.
I want to get started
right away, but my domain name hasn't transferred/isn't in
the database yet. How do I do it?
You can upload your page(s)
immediately by pointing your FTP client to the IP address
you were assigned when you opened your account. After your
domain is fully propagated through the system, you can upload
to ftp.yourdomain.com.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is really just
an alias for your IP number address. When you sign up to put
a Web site on the Internet, you are given an Internet Protocol
Number, or address. All the computers on the Internet can
retrieve your site by pulling up this IP number. A domain
name will allow you to have a World Wide Web address like
www.yourcompany.com instead of having only a number such as
209.103.204.100.
Who owns the Domain
Name I register?
You become the owner of the
domain name after we register it. You are the Administrative
Contact. If anyone tries to move the domain or change any
information on the form, they will contact you first. We are
listed as the Technical Contact on the domain. Optionally
we will list your domain under our locked account to prevent
domain hijacking. You will still have full ownership.
How much does it cost
to own a domain name?
Our registrar will charge
you $13.50 per year for each domain. We will handle it all
for you for $15 per domain.
How long does it take
for a new Domain Name to register or move?
Registering a domain name
can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks, depending on the
registrar. Transferring a domain is a little more complicated,
but takes about the same amount of time. Let us know the domain
name which is being modified, also have all information ready
before contacting your old service provider to better this
process. Then we graciously ask to have the domain transferred
and hope they'll proceed in a timely manner. If you have a
good relationship with your old provider, it might help speed
things up.
How long does it take
for the world to see a new domain name?
Once approved and registered,
it can take upwards of 2 weeks to update around the globe.
So while you may be able to see it with your Web browser,
your next door neighbors might not because of the domain name
server the system uses. Most domain name servers are programmed
to get domain name updates only once a day at a predetermined
time.
What characters may
I use in my domain name?
Your domain name can be as
long as 22 characters. The domain must consist only of letters,
numbers and dashes(-). The www is not part of the actual domain
name and is just a standard web prefix.
What if the domain
name I want is already taken?
If the name you would like
has already been registered by another company, you will want
to be creative and decide on a name that is associated with
your company. For instance, if The ABC Company sells letters,
then you may want to try letters.com.
How many domain names
may I have?
You can have as many as you
want. You will still be billed the $13.50 per domain name
for each year.
What extension can
I have on the end of my Domain Name?
Here is what's available
now for top level domain names:

commercial, for-profit organizations |

4-year, degree granting institutions only |

page and read more about domain registration.
What do I have to
do to register my domain name?
You need to have an existing
email account through an Internet Service Provider. Also,
you need to have a server in which to put your domain name.
Always make sure that your domain name is available before
trying to register that name.
How do I read the
NIC whois record?
When you look at your NIC
whois record, like this sample:
Bob's Web Company. (BOBSWEB-DOM)
25 Main Street, Suite 230
New York, CA 110011 US
Domain Name: BOBSWEB.COM
Administrative Contact: Smith,
Bob (SB907) dexin@BOBSWEB.COM 212-555-1155 (FAX) 212-555-2000
Technical Contact, Zone Contact: Person, Tech (TP984) noc@crystalnet.net
920-954-9500 (FAX)920-954-1650
Record last updated on 06-Feb-96.
Record created on 28-Jul-95. Database last updated on 29-May-97
04:55:39 EDT.
Domain servers in listed order:
DNS Server #1: NS.ATHENET.NET
DNS IP #1: 209.103.196.2
DNS Server #2: NS3.ATHENET.NET
DNS IP #2: 209.103.198.2
The three character strings,
BOBSWEB-DOM, SB907, and TP984 are called NIC handles. They
are basically key words used by NIC's whois database search
software for locating information related to them quickly.
As for the two terms, Administrative
Contact and Technical Contact/Zone Contact, we will borrow
NIC's own definitions
The administrative contact
is the person who can speak on behalf of the organization
listed in Section 3. This person should be able to answer
non-technical questions about the organization's plans for
the name, and procedures for establishing sub-domains, and
should be able to represent the organization regarding use
of the name.
The technical contact is the
person who tends to the technical aspects of maintaining the
domain's name server, resolver software, and database files.
This person keeps the name server running, and interacts with
technical people in other domains to solve problems that affect
the domain. The Internet Service Provider often performs this
role.
What is a NIC handle?
Every entity has a NIC handle.
You can use the same NIC handle as contacts for several domains.
This way, if you make a change to the NIC handle (i.e., the
e-mail address), all domains using that NIC handle will be
updated as well.
What about Trademarks?
You may have a trademarked
name in your domain name and have it registered. But, you
might want to check if there is a company with that name trademarked
(™). Also, if a company does have that name trademarked you
could be taken to court and could loose that name, as well
as money.
Can I change my domain
name?
In order to change your domain
name, you need to submit an order for a new domain name. Since
this is a new domain name, the registration fees still apply.
Can you register a
domain name for me? Can you set up domains other than .com,
.org, and .net?
We are not a domain name registrar
but we can register a site in your name through a registrar.
We can also assist with registering other top level domains
(fees for registering other domains will vary by country).
Please contact our sales department if you require assistance
in registering domains other than .com, .net, .info, or .org.
